The UIB buys a plot at the ParcBit to promote future university facilities

PalmaThe University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) now has one of the two plots of land necessary to develop future university facilities at ParcBit. The university has formalized the purchase of plot 7A, a site with 2,311 square meters of buildable area located next to plot 6A, which is owned by the Government.

The regional Executive has committed to ceding this second plot to the UIB. In this way, the university project will include 4,627 square meters of buildable area: 2,311 corresponding to the site purchased by the university and 2,316 to the one that the Government will cede.

The purchase was formalized by the Vice-Rector for Economy, Infrastructure and Campus of the UIB, Carles Mulet. The action is part of the Government's strategy to give a new boost to ParcBit and recover space for companies, innovation projects, and activity linked to knowledge.

In recent years, the Executive has also recovered other plots that had been sold previously. In 2025, it recovered two plots that, together, totaled more than 11,000 square meters of buildable area.

The Government also plans the construction of 120 temporary rental homes for workers, researchers, and teaching staff, works that are scheduled to begin during the first half of 2027. Added to this action are the unblocking of the Balearic Islands Research Complex, improvements to ParcBit facilities, solar panels in the parking lot, a renewal of public lighting, and the future arrival of the metro.

All of this is included in the Plan for the attraction and loyalty of companies and talent, which plans to mobilize nearly 68 million euros to promote this transformation of ParcBit.
