PalmThe PSIB (Spanish Socialist Workers' Party) on Tuesday pressured the Minister of Education, Antoni Vera, over the Government's pacts with Vox. The Minister of Education responded to the criticism by insisting that the Executive will not amend either the Minimum Decree or the Normalization Law: "They are compatible with the vehicularity of Spanish that we defend, and we believe in consensus standards."

Despite the PP's refusal yesterday to process the far-right's proposal to introduce the vehicular use of Spanish in classrooms, arguing that it went beyond what had been agreed upon, the Socialist spokesperson, Amanda Fernández, warned that any modification "is an attack on the language and education." "You suffer from severe amnesiac bunkerization, what harm can the carpet do?" responded the minister, who defended the "vehicular use of both official languages."

In this regard, she guaranteed that the agreement with Vox to include the vehicular use of Spanish in the Education Law will be fulfilled, despite having rejected the first proposal from Manuela Cañadas' group. "The agreements are clear," she stressed.
