The Balearic Cultural Association has experienced a year marked by achievements and progress made thanks to hundreds of people who, in a selfless and voluntary manner, work at the head of the 41 delegations that the entity currently has and which they have managed to consolidate, in a context in which the challenges to preserve our language and defend culture are increasingly complicated.

In 2025, the OCB's unwavering commitment to the country was demonstrated more strongly than ever, and historic milestones were reached, marking a turning point in the organization's history. One of the most significant achievements of the past year was reaching 5,000 members. These 5,000 members are a testament to the trust and support the OCB has earned from those who recognize their commitment to defending our language and culture. Having this large membership base is a great responsibility; so many people have placed their trust in our project, and we cannot let them down. At the same time, it is an invaluable incentive to continue working tirelessly, with the goal of further expanding our cause and engaging all those who believe in the importance of keeping our identity alive.

2025 has been an intense year. The socio-political context in which we find ourselves, marked by a demographic collapse that is accelerating the decline in the use of Catalan and by a clear hostility towards our identity, especially the Catalan language, on the part of public institutions, has forced us to activate the organization's machinery to its fullest capacity. We have taken to the streets to demand our right to live as Mallorcans in our home; we have denounced all the regressive measures that public authorities have taken against the Catalan language and our identity symbols, and we have done so with all the tools at our disposal to defend our linguistic rights and to ensure that all citizens can exercise them. We have proposed actions to guarantee the presence of our language in the appropriate spheres, with the aim of moving towards the full normalization of the Catalan language; and we have focused, in particular, on defending the model of linguistic consensus in our schools, supporting the educational community. All this for saying no to a failed plan of linguistic segregation, one that doesn't respond to any pedagogical criteria and that has been rejected by public education and families.

In 2025 we have once again demanded that Our Diada has been, is and will be on December 31st And we have done so with the support of the academic world and civil society, and we have begun to prepare for the most important historical milestone of our people, the 800th anniversary of the Conquest, with our sights set on present-day Mallorca and on keeping the flame of Catalan language and culture alive.

In 2025, we also celebrated the Year of Llompart. We revisited the life of a poet and civic leader who, during his presidency of the Balearic Cultural Association, laid the foundations for what we are today as an organization. Llompart's life is a story of unwavering loyalty to the Catalan language and the nation: an example to follow of courage, commitment, and generosity, without fanfare but with undeniable force. Now that the political winds blowing everywhere are once again leading us to an adverse scenario and do not bode well, it is essential to keep his example and mastery in mind and remember that the best tribute we can pay to Llompart and all those who have come before us is through shared achievements. Today, the Balearic Cultural Association demonstrates that, with determination and the involvement of thousands of voices, it is possible to advance in the defense of our language, our culture, and our rights. Here's to a 2026 full of strength and success!
