The socialists of the Balearic Islands, Catalonia and the Valencian Community make joint proposals on climate change, culture and housing

PalmThe Secretary General of the PSIB (Socialist Party of the Balearic Islands) and President of the Congress of Deputies, Francina Armengol, called for elections in the Valencian Community on Monday during a meeting with Socialist representatives from the Balearic Islands, Catalonia, and the Valencian Community, according to Europa Press. "We need to bring common sense when the Valencian government isn't," she said at the start of the presentation of a document on climate change, culture, and housing prepared by the parliamentary groups of the three territories. The spokesperson for the PSPV (Socialist Party of the Valencian Country), José Muñoz, accused the PP (People's Party) and Vox of "trying to prevent citizens from voting" and of using climate change "as a bargaining chip."

The proposals

The document prepared by the Socialists focuses on the climate emergency, culture and language, and housing as a "fundamental right," and puts forward proposals in these areas. "The document addresses the economic model and future challenges such as the climate emergency, which is one of the most important," Armengol emphasized, and she championed the defense of public services "against right-wing governments that are pushing for privatization." Regarding housing, the President of the Catalan Generalitat, Salvador Illa, defended its construction to increase the public housing stock and market intervention. Illa pointed out that, since the implementation of the national Housing Law, prices have fallen by more than 4% in Barcelona, while in areas where it is not applied, they have risen by 6.6%. "Housing is a priority issue, but we don't have a magic wand," he added.
