The PP defends the process to choose the new director of the Principal theater of Inca

PalmaThe PP of Inca has defended the "open and transparent" process to choose the new director of the Principal theatre of Inca, after the mayor of the municipality, Virgilio Moreno, has announced that he will take legal action against the Government and the Council. The Popular Party members have demanded the mayor to explain "why he intends to take to the courts and paralyze an open, transparent process with objective scoring" to choose the new management of the Principal theatre of Inca.

In a press release, the party stressed that the approved guidelines have a favorable report, in the face of "Moreno's attempt to publicly present the procedure as an act contrary to law". The PP councilor of Inca and member of the Board of Trustees of the Teatre Principal Foundation, Pedro Mas, has shown the populars' support for the position defended by the Council of Mallorca and by the island councilor of Culture and Heritage, Antònia Roca.

"Virgilio Moreno talks about interference, but what he needs to explain is why he wants to stop a competition to which any professional can apply. What bothers him? That all candidates are evaluated with the same criteria and that the best one is chosen?", questioned Mas.

"A part of the story"

In his opinion, "there may be legal discrepancies and they must be addressed with rigor, but what the mayor cannot do is explain only one part of the story". In this sense, he remarked that there is a favorable report on the bases.

Mas indicated that the process does not exclude anyone and that the current director of the Principal theater can also apply on equal terms. "Here, no one vets anyone. If the current director is the best option, he will be able to demonstrate it within an open and objective process, this is transparency", he defended.

For the popular member, the mayor "prefers to threaten with the courts rather than accept that different professionals can compete on equal terms".

Finally, Mas asked the mayor to abandon "institutional confrontation and prioritize the interests of the Principal theater over political battle".
