PalmaMÉS per Mallorca has demanded this Thursday the urgent appearance of the president of the Consell de Mallorca, Llorenç Galmés, to explain what measures he intends to adopt following the conclusions of the internal reports on the use of official vehicles by the insular vice-president, Pedro Bestard, as disseminated by the party through a statement.

The eco-sovereigntist party has described as "incomprehensible" that the highest authority of the institution has not yet made a public statement nor announced any action beyond the instruction to regulate the use of the Consell's vehicles, after learning the content of the reports. According to MÉS, Galmés's silence makes him "accomplice" to the facts.

"Galmes cannot hide in silence nor disassociate himself from the case because it was he himself who commissioned the internal reports that attest to an improper use of public resources", stated the spokesperson for MÉS on the Council, Catalina Inés Perelló.

The party recalled that the island president ordered these reports to be drawn up in the face of indications of irregularities and considers that, now that he knows their conclusions, he has the obligation to give explanations. "He must tell the citizens what measures he intends to adopt. Silence is also a political decision", pointed out Perelló.

In the opinion of the eco-sovereignists, Galmés finds himself facing the dilemma of defending the integrity of the institution and public resources or protecting his vice-president and government partner. "Every hour that passes without Galmés appearing, condemning the facts and announcing actions, his political responsibility increases. If he continues to be silent, he will cease to be the president who commissioned an investigation to clarify serious events to become the president who covers them up and consents to them", he added.

Finally, MÉS per Mallorca has warned that any attempt to postpone explanations or to consider the case closed will only contribute to exacerbating the crisis of confidence.
