The PSIB conditions its support for the spending cap on the increase in the ITS and the tax on rental cars

Vox again calls on the PP to withdraw its proposal to make Spanish the primary language of instruction and calls it a fraud

PalmRaising the ITS (Property Tax) and the water levy, and a tax on rental cars: these are the PSIB's (Socialist Party of the Balearic Islands) red lines for supporting the Government's spending cap, as explained this Monday by the Socialists' deputy spokesperson, Marc Pons, who emphasized his party's "constructive attitude." Pons stressed that the negotiations concern only the spending cap and do not imply any support for the budget. The Government will begin negotiations this week with Vox and the PSIB, although it has not yet registered the spending cap in Parliament. The deputy spokesperson for the People's Party (PP), Marga Duran, assured that the PP "takes nothing for granted." "We know we have a minority government. We try to reach agreements and compromises so that improvements for the population can be implemented," she added, referring to the €360 million increase in the spending cap. Meanwhile, MÁS per Mallorca is not willing to negotiate anything with a PP that "cannot be trusted." "He broke his word when an offer of cooperation was extended to him," stated the eco-sovereignist spokesperson, Lluís Apesteguia, who reminded everyone that the procedures to "repeal the Historical Memory Law" continue, despite the agreement between the Popular Party and the left. "We will not negotiate until the previous framework of trust is restored. If the PSIB believes that negotiations are possible, they should respect that," Apesteguia added, also emphasizing that MÁS will not be on one side of a negotiating table "with Vox on the other."

Vox demands that the PP withdraw the initiative on the use of Spanish as a language of instruction in education

Vox spokesperson Manuela Cañadas has again publicly called on the People's Party (PP) to withdraw its initiative on the use of Spanish as a language of instruction in education, which she considers "a fraud." However, Marga Duran emphasized that the far-right party did not make this request directly to the PP. "Just as Vox presented the proposal it deemed appropriate, the PP is presenting one that guarantees the use of both official languages and complies with the program endorsed by 162,000 citizens and with the agreement with Vox," she explained.

MORE for Mallorca, against the military warehouse at Son Sant Joan

On the other hand, MÁS per Mallorca has presented a motion for all groups to publicly state whether they are for or against the "bomb and missile depot at Son Sant Joan." "We oppose it due to our pacifist ideology, the lack of respect for the island's institutions, and out of respect for the residents, especially those of Casa Blanca, whose houses will be 300 meters away," explained the eco-sovereignist spokesperson. The Sumar Més deputy in Congress, Vicenç Vidal, expressed the eco-sovereignists' concern about "the military escalation." "The Son Sant Joan airbase used to have rescue helicopters, and now we're replacing them with attack aircraft. It's a paradigm shift. Mallorca is being used again to control the Mediterranean," said Vidal, who submitted questions in Congress about the depot.
