PalmaThe defense of Son Busquets's heritage returns to the scene with a new photographic exhibition and the publication of a book promoted by the Association for the Revitalization of Old Centers (ARCA). The entity presented these two initiatives this Monday with the aim of demanding the conservation of the heritage elements of the complex and calling for urban planning that is "more respectful" of the environment.

The exhibition, which opened this Monday at ARCA headquarters, brings together some sixty photographs distributed in various explanatory panels on the historic buildings and green spaces with vegetation of Son Busquets. The images were taken by Concha Gallego, Benet Bohigas, Àngels Fermoselle, and Julio Carvajal during three visits to the site.

The exhibition also includes a panel prepared by Joves Arquitectes de Mallorca (JAM), which compares the urban planning proposals of the Public Business Land Society (Sepes) and the architects' entity for the future development of the space. According to ARCA, JAM's proposal is "much more respectful" of the existing buildings, architectural visual quality, and the conservation of original elements.

Coinciding with the opening of the exhibition, ARCA also presented the book The Claim for Son Busquets. A Narrative in Defense of Heritage, written by the entity's vice-president, Àngels Fermoselle. The publication, edited in Catalan and Spanish, is of an informative nature and, as highlighted by the association, pursues a triple objective: to raise awareness about the defense of heritage, preserve the memory of citizen mobilization, and transmit "hope" regarding the possibility of an alternative project for Son Busquets.

ARCA has emphasized that neither the exhibition nor the book represent a final point in their mobilization, but rather "a continuation" in the defense of the site. The entity assures that it does not question the construction of the planned facilities and housing, but rather the way in which the organization of the space has been conceived.

In this regard, they consider that the proposal presented by Joves Arquitectes de Mallorca demonstrates that "it can be done much better" than the project proposed by Sepes two years ago. The exhibition can be visited on Monday and Wednesday afternoons, as well as on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings.
