PalmThe defense of Son Busquets' heritage returns to the scene with a new photographic exhibition and the publication of a book driven by the Association for the Revitalization of Old Centers (ARCA). The entity presented the two initiatives this Monday with the aim of demanding the conservation of the heritage elements of the complex and calling for urban planning that is "more respectful" of the environment.

The exhibition, which opened this Monday at ARCA's headquarters, brings together some sixty photographs distributed in various explanatory panels about the historic buildings and the green spaces of Son Busquets. The images were taken by Concha Gallego, Benet Bohigas, Àngels Fermoselle, and Julio Carvajal during three visits to the site.

The exhibition also includes a panel created by Joves Arquitectes de Mallorca (JAM), which compares the urban planning proposals of the Public Business Land Society (Sepes) and the architects' association for the future development of the space. According to ARCA, JAM's proposal is "much more respectful" of the existing buildings, architectural visual quality, and the conservation of the original elements.

Coinciding with the opening of the exhibition, ARCA has also presented the book The Reclamation of Son Busquets. A Narrative in Defense of Heritage, written by the association's vice-president, Àngels Fermoselle. The publication, edited in Catalan and Spanish, is educational and, as the association has highlighted, pursues a triple objective: to raise awareness about the defense of heritage, preserve the memory of citizen protest, and transmit "hope" for the possibility of an alternative project for Son Busquets.

ARCA has emphasized that neither the exhibition nor the book represent a final point to their mobilization, but rather "a point and continuation" in the defense of the site. The association assures that it does not question the construction of the planned facilities and housing, but rather the way in which the organization of the space has been conceived.

In this regard, they consider that the proposal presented by Joves Arquitectes de Mallorca demonstrates that "much better can be done" than the project proposed by Sepes two years ago. The exhibition can be visited on Monday and Wednesday afternoons, as well as on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings.
