PalmaAn operation by the National Police and the Civil Guard under the coordination of Europol has made it possible to dismantle a criminal organization that was introducing cocaine into Europe using luxury real estate agencies to launder illicit money in luxury homes in Ibiza, Marbella, and Madrid.
The operation has resulted in 27 arrests in the provinces of Madrid (14), Malaga (2), Ibiza (4), Pontevedra (1), Almeria (3), Leon (2), and the Dominican Republic (1) as alleged perpetrators of the crimes of drug trafficking, money laundering, and membership in a criminal organization.
38 simultaneous entries and searches were carried out in Spain and the Dominican Republic, in which agents of the Portuguese Judicial Police participated, and 40 high-end vehicles, 2 boats, and 6 firearms, including one weapon of war, were seized, as well as crypto-assets worth more than 1,300,000 USD and more than a thousand dollars.
The investigation began in September 2023 when it was confirmed, based on the analysis of encrypted messaging platforms, that there was a network carrying out drug shipments destined for Europe, which allowed for the discovery of those allegedly responsible for four cocaine seizures in Panama, with a total weight exceeding 1,500 kilograms of cocaine.
After several inquiries, it was possible to verify that this network was part of the Spanish branch of the criminal structure directed by prominent figures in international drug trafficking and that it possessed high operational and economic capacity, according to information provided by the National Police and the Civil Guard.
The investigation has been directed by Judicial Court 5 of the Instruction Section of the Central Court of Instruction of the National Court and the Special Anti-Drug Prosecutor's Office, which has detected that the network was investing in real estate developments and luxury villas in the most exclusive areas of Ibiza, Marbella, and Madrid, as well as abroad, particularly in the Dominican Republic.
