Canadian policeman arrested in Palma accused of sexual assault in Barcelona
The victim, a woman who worked as a prostitute, reported being assaulted inside a taxi in Ciutat Vella along with injuries from blows to the face
PalmThe Mossos d’Esquadra have arrested three Canadian men accused of allegedly sexually assaulting a woman who was working as a prostitute inside a taxi in the Ciutat Vella neighborhood of Barcelona. One of the arrested individuals was located and detained on Friday in Palma after fleeing Catalonia.
According to police sources confirmed to Europa Press and as reported by El Periódico de Catalunya, the events took place last Wednesday. Two of the suspects were arrested in Barcelona by the Mossos d’Esquadra, while the third —who allegedly physically assaulted the victim— was later intercepted in the Balearic capital.
According to the information published by the Catalan newspaper, the three detainees are Canadian police officers. One of them is accused of a sexual assault without penetration, while another allegedly hit the woman in the face when she resisted. The third occupied the front passenger seat of the vehicle.
The victim reported both the sexual assault and the injuries sustained and had to receive medical assistance.
Regarding the judicial situation of those arrested in Barcelona, one of the men remains detained after appearing in court this Friday accused of sexual assault. The second is at liberty, although under investigation for an alleged crime of assaulting law enforcement officers due to his resistance during the arrest.
