The OCB has produced and distributed informative material to educational centers in the Balearic Islands
PalmaThe Obra Cultural Balear (OCB) has launched, coinciding with the imminent start of the enrollment process for the 2026-2027 academic year, a new information campaign aimed at families and the management teams of educational centers to remind them of the importance of the linguistic model chosen during the educational stage and to raise awareness among families to opt for the Catalan language.
All the material from the 'Tria català!' campaign can be consulted at this link.Likewise, the entity also thanks the professionalism and commitment of the teachers and educational centers that have made this successful model possible for thousands of students. According to them, choosing Catalan as the language of instruction implies the oral consolidation of the Catalan language in a functional and effective way, regardless of the family or native language. This oral consolidation allows the child to be in better conditions to begin the process of reading and writing in Catalan in later levels.
The OCB has prepared and distributed informational material to educational centers in the Balearic Islands and has encouraged them to share it with families who will enroll children born in 2023 in early childhood education this year. The material can be consulted in various languages and formats on the OCB website. Last year, when this campaign was carried out for the first time, more than 80% of families in the Balearic Islands (82.78% in Mallorca) opted for Catalan as the language of early childhood education.
