PollençaThe debate on the reopening of the old Bóquer road (Road 77) revealed a strong confrontation within the Pollença governing coalition, formed by MÉS per Pollença and the PSOE, during a municipal plenary session marked by political tension and angry intervention from the public. The proposal to bring the official recovery of a section of Road 77 to a plenary session, promoted by the Socialist Party, met with direct opposition from MÉS per Pollença, the coalition partner, which announced its intention to vote against it and demanded that the procedure be halted to allow for a broader debate on the consequences. The tension was not limited to the political benches. Several members of the public intervened, even without being given the floor, directly addressing the mayor and councilors with a level of aggression that nearly led to the suspension of the plenary session. Some attendees, opposed to the reopening, even presented independent studies to argue that the item should be removed from the agenda.

MORE warns of serious mobility and coexistence problems

MÁS per Pollença maintains that the resolution is presented as an administrative procedure, but in reality, it consolidates a change in access to Cala Bóquer that could generate traffic jams, insecurity, and a loss of quality of life for residents of the Síller area. The eco-sovereignists warn that Camino 77 is narrow, without sidewalks, and has more than 70 houses, and that diverting the daily passage of hundreds of people is unfeasible, as, they claim, the Local Police have already warned. They also question the safety of the current route, with steep slopes and flood-prone areas. For all these reasons, MÁS demands that the procedure be suspended and a dialogue process opened to find an alternative that reconciles public access with safety and community harmony. The PSOE defends the recovery of a road declared public

The PSOE, on the other hand, maintains that Camino 77 has been officially included in the Catalogue of Roads as a publicly owned road since 2019, after a lengthy administrative process that began in 2008 and was supported by reports from the Consell de Mallorca (Island Council of Mallorca) and municipal legal services. The Socialists believe that the City Council has a legal obligation to restore the road, especially after the detected actions that blocked access, and argue that the procedure is based on legal criteria and not on private interests. An open conflict within the municipal government

The clash over the Bóquer path has brought to the forefront an internal crisis within the municipal government, with two opposing views on how to defend public paths and manage access to natural areas under high tourist pressure. With the debate still ongoing and pressure from local residents mounting, the future of path 77 threatens to remain a source of political and social conflict in Pollença in the coming months.
