Consult here the program for Sant Jordi in Palma: florists and more neighborhoods are joining
A total of 24 bookstores will participate during the day and, as a novelty, some flower shops are also incorporated
PalmPalma will expand the Sant Jordi celebration this year with a commitment to decentralize the festival and bring it to more spaces in the city. Under the slogan ‘Sant Jordi, books and roses everywhere’, the 2026 program will include, for the first time, the participation of florists and a preliminary day in the neighborhoods.
The initiative is driven by the Guild of Booksellers of Mallorca, the Council of Mallorca, the Palma City Council, Pimeco, and, as a novelty, the Association of Florists.
Throughout the week, a program with almost a hundred activities will be rolled out, including book presentations, storytelling, reading clubs, and workshops, also organized with the participation of the Institut d'Estudis Baleàrics.
On the central day, April 23rd, the streets of Palma will be filled with books with stalls from 24 bookstores, which will be open from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Additionally, there will be more than 150 author signings, and the usual 10% discount will be applied to book purchases.
One of the main novelties will be the incorporation of six florists into the traditional route of the festival, which will extend to spaces such as Plaza de España, Calle de Sant Miquel, Plaza Mayor, Calle Marqués del Palmer, and Plaza de Cort, in addition to the usual spots on La Rambla. At 8:00 PM, Plaza del Olivar will host a concert by the group Nou Romancer with the collaboration of the Obra Cultural Balear.
The president of the Guild of Booksellers, Miquel Ferrer, has highlighted that the addition of new groups “helps to make the celebration even bigger and more participatory”. In the same vein, the president of the Association of Florists, Mercé França, has stressed that their incorporation allows for reinforcing the symbolic role of roses and bringing more life to the streets.
A Sant Jordi that begins in the neighborhoods
As a notable novelty, a preliminary event will be held on Saturday, April 18th, with decentralized activities to bring the festival closer to the neighborhoods. Between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM, the squares of Paris and Progreso, and Nuredduna street will host book and flower stalls, storytelling, and entertainment with the giants Tom and Rosa, accompanied by the band Final Feliz.
The Councilor for Culture of Palma, Javier Bonet, has emphasized the city council's commitment to Sant Jordi, which he has described as "one of the most outstanding cultural events in the city." For her part, the insular councilor for Culture and Heritage, Antonia Roca, has announced a reinforcement of support for the sector with more resources and activities, among which the project stands outRondalles Bitzó, aimed at bringing Mallorcan oral tradition closer to the younger generation.
With this expansion, Palma consolidates Sant Jordi as a reference cultural festival that, year after year, gains in participation and presence in the streets.
