A driver is under investigation for running over a minor on her way to school in Palma.
The accident occurred due to an alleged lack of attention on the part of the driver.
PalmThe Palma Local Police are investigating the hit-and-run of a 13-year-old girl at a pedestrian crossing. The incident occurred on November 25th at approximately 2:10 p.m. at the intersection of Baltasar Valentí and Bach streets.
A patrol from the Accident Vehicle Unit (UVAC) was dispatched to the scene. According to the accident reconstruction, the girl was crossing the road at the pedestrian crossing when she was hit by a car.
The vehicle's front left wheel ran over the girl's foot, causing her to fall onto the road and sustain bruises. The child was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
The driver of the vehicle, a 60-year-old Spanish woman, stated that she was unable to react in time when the child began to cross. Following the on-site inspection, the police report attributes responsibility for the accident to the driver due to alleged inattention. For this reason, she was issued an administrative citation for failing to yield the right-of-way at a marked pedestrian crossing. The Accident Investigation Unit (UVAC) initiated the corresponding preliminary investigation.
