PalmThe works council of Mallorca Railway Services (SFM) expressed on Monday its "deep sorrow and dismay" at the serious train accident that occurred in Adamuz, a tragedy they feel "as their own" and for which they send all their support to the victims, their families and the workers of Renfe and Iryo.

This is how they expressed themselves in a statement indicating that, in response to the rally called by Management, the committee affirms that they will attend the 1:00 PM event at the Palma Intermodal Station to observe a minute of silence, but they assert that they will do so "out of respect for the victims and to avoid any institutional or partisan use that the event might have."

According to them, mourning "does not erase reality" and they emphasize that "when complaints about deficiencies are ignored on a daily basis, railway safety is not guaranteed with photos or official events but with real investment." Thus, they insist that the "best tribute" that can be paid to the victims of this accident is to demand that safety be the absolute priority.

For all these reasons, they warn that, after this period of mourning, they will address "each and every one of the shortcomings that compromise" their work. However, For Monday's event, workers are being called upon to attend "maintaining the sobriety and critical distance that the gravity of the situation requires."
