Five years in prison for trying to kill his partner with a beating in Manacor

PalmaThe Second Section of the Provincial Court of the Balearic Islands has on Wednesday sentenced a man to five years in prison for attempting to kill his partner, another man, during an assault that occurred in Manacor in September 2024.

The sentence was issued after the accused acknowledged the facts and reached an agreement with the Public Prosecutor's Office. In addition to the prison sentence, he will have to compensate the victim with more than 38,000 euros for the injuries and damages caused.

According to the proven facts, in the early morning of September 10, 2024, both were at the home they shared in Manacor when an argument broke out. During the confrontation, the now convicted man began to repeatedly hit his partner with the intention of ending his life.

The assault was concentrated mainly on the victim's face, skull, and chest, who received multiple blows to different parts of the body.

The judicial resolution also appreciates the aggravating circumstance of superiority. In this regard, it considers it proven that the accused was fully aware that his physical build and weight were much greater than those of the victim, a circumstance that considerably limited the possibilities of defense or avoiding the attack.

With the acceptance of the facts by the accused, the proceedings have been resolved through a consent judgment, thus avoiding a trial.
