Hundreds of people form a human chain in Palma to denounce that "the genocide in Palestine has not ended"

PalmaHundreds of people gathered this Friday in Palma to participate in a human chain called by Marches for Palestine with the aim of denouncing that "the genocide in Palestine has not ended" and warning of what they consider the "failure" of the peace plan.

The mobilization began in front of the Llotja del Peix, from where the participants began a march to the Passeig Marítim, at the height of the Cathedral. There they formed a human chain and unfurled a large Palestinian flag on top of the wall.

The coordinator of Marches for Palestine, Maria Durán, has called on the citizens of Mallorca to continue mobilizing and cooperating to "stop the genocide" in the Middle East. According to her, since the signing of the peace agreement, about 1,100 people would have died, because, she stated, "the bombs have continued to fall during this time of peace, between quotation marks".

Durán also maintained that the model applied in the Gaza Strip would be reproducing in the West Bank, where, according to her denunciation, there are "totally destroyed" villages and "devastated" cities.

During her speech, the activist recalled that, with the creation of the state of Israel, 51% of the territory was allocated to this new state and stated that currently the Palestinian population only has 13% of the original territory, distributed in "scattered" areas.

Furthermore, she accused the Israeli army of supporting the settlers, to whom she attributed "murders" committed with "total impunity".

Finally, Durán defended the importance of maintaining these types of mobilizations because, according to her, future generations "will hold it against us" if no action is taken against a conflict she described as "genocide". She also expressed her opinion that what is happening in Gaza could be an "experiment" to see how far the population can resist before exporting this model to other territories.
