Illegal nightclub closed in Formentera Natural Park
The establishment had a restaurant license, but it was actually a nightclub.

PalmThe Formentera Island Council has closed an establishment located in the Natural Park until the safety deficiencies detected are corrected, in addition to the sealing of the music installation.
The provisional measures were decreed following an inspection carried out jointly by the technical services of the Formentera Island Council, the Local Police, and environmental agents from the Balearic Government.
At the time of the incident, inspectors found that the establishment, which has a restaurant license, was repeatedly operating as a nightclub and exceeding the legal capacity limit of 50 people. During the inspection, they also found that an entrance fee was being charged for a drink and that a musical activity, a nightclub, was being held, which is expressly prohibited in the Ses Salines Natural Park and for which the establishment does not have a license or authorization.
The inspection also revealed serious deficiencies in the emergency exits, which were, in fact, blocked or inoperative.
Furthermore, since it has a restaurant license, the entire music system, including the terrace speakers, has been sealed off.
Finally, they have also urged the removal of existing furniture and the cessation of private use of non-enclosed spaces. On this point, the Formentera Council has urged the property owner to remove umbrellas and armchairs located in the maritime-terrestrial public domain (DPMT) area without the relevant authorization.
The establishment's owners have 24 hours to cease operations, which they may resume once the identified deficiencies have been corrected. However, disciplinary proceedings will be initiated at the same time.
The President of the Consell, Óscar Portas, stressed that "the regulations are clear, and the safety of people and the protection of our natural environment are red lines that do not allow for interpretation. We will act decisively whenever necessary."
The Council has emphasized that strict compliance with urban planning, environmental, and safety regulations is an essential condition for the development of economic activities on the island, and calls for the sector to be responsible.
