PalmThe Palma Court of Instruction number 10, acting as duty court, has agreed this Monday to the provisional imprisonment without bail for the driver involved in the fatal accident last weekend in Son Castelló, in which a 27-year-old motorcyclist died.

The magistrate is investigating the driver of the car involved in the accident for alleged manslaughter, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, driving without a license, falsification of official documents, and leaving the scene of an accident. After appearing before the judge on Monday, the public prosecutor requested pretrial detention for the arrested man, which the magistrate granted. The fatal accident, in which the stolen car and the motorcycle involved caught fire, occurred last Saturday at approximately 6:00 a.m. at kilometer 4.5 of the Sóller road (Ma-11), in front of the Palma vehicle inspection station. According to the Local Police investigation, the collision occurred because the motorcycle was traveling in the wrong direction and collided head-on with the car. Due to the impact, both vehicles caught fire.

After the collision, the four occupants of the car, which turned out to be stolen, fled the scene. However, over the weekend, they went to the police station and confessed to the incident. Several units of the Local Police, Palma firefighters, and three ambulances were dispatched to the scene of the accident, but paramedics could only confirm the motorcyclist's death.
