PalmThe driver and one of the passengers of the car involved in Saturday's fatal accident at the ITV roundabout on the Sóller road turned themselves in to the Palma Local Police. A 27-year-old motorcyclist died in the incident after a head-on collision with the vehicle, which had been stolen.

According to police sources, a young man who claimed to be one of the passengers in the car turned himself in on Saturday afternoon, between 8:00 and 9:00, at the Sant Ferran police station, accompanied by his lawyer. A few hours later, on Sunday at 10:00 a.m., the driver also turned himself in, accompanied by his lawyer. Both have been arrested as suspected perpetrators of failure to render aid—for fleeing the scene after the crash—and theft, as the vehicle they were driving was stolen. Although the Local Police usually handle traffic accidents within the Palma municipality, in this case the final investigation will be handled by the National Police, since the car was stolen. Therefore, both detainees are expected to be handed over to the National Police, who will then transfer them to the duty judge. The causes of the accident are yet to be determined

SAMU 061 mobilized several ambulances and the Palma Fire Department, but the young motorcyclist died instantly. At that time, the occupants of the car had fled, abandoning the vehicle. The Local Police's Accident Vehicle Unit (UVAC) conducted the initial investigation and, together with the National Police, continues to investigate the exact circumstances of the accident.
