The events date back to November 2, 2023, when the woman, just over six months pregnant, went into labor in a vehicle in which she was traveling with her brother-in-law and sister in Portocristo. According to the ruling, after the birth—which occurred with the baby alive—the mother and the man agreed to get rid of them. It was he who, after receiving his baby, got out of the car and placed her in a dumpster. The judge emphasizes that this action "condemned her to certain death," given the conditions she was in: premature, without assistance, and in an adverse environment.

The infant died from cardiorespiratory arrest due to lack of medical attention and also suffered a head injury. The mother's role is especially serious.

The sentence comes as law enforcement continues its search for the mother, who failed to appear at the Palma courthouse on the day the verdict was to be announced.
