PalmNational Police officers in Manacor have arrested a man of Spanish origin as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of abuse and extortion, accused of abusing his partner and locking her up for forcing her to sign over a property and a vehicle. Officers from the National Police's UFAM (United Nations Unit of the National Police) received a complaint filed in Palma in which a woman described a series of domestic abuse incidents at the hands of her ex-partner.

The woman stated that she had been in a relationship with the accused for some time and suffered assault and harassment from the man from the beginning. The complainant stated that her partner forced her to stay locked inside the house, did not let her go out at any time, constantly assaulted her, and that, after she attempted to escape, he held her captive and shaved her head.

The incident occurred in a home located in the Part Forana district of Mallorca, where the attacker's mother also lived. The victim reported that the man had chained her to the bed, giving her enough time to go to the bathroom. The man pressed the condition that she sign a power of attorney to transfer a property she owned to him, as well as the ownership of a high-end car she owned.

A few weeks ago, accompanied by a relative of the accused, the victim signed a notary public to transfer her assets to be free. Once this was achieved, her attacker let her go, and she took refuge with her relatives. The victim did not initially report the incident for fear of reprisals from both the attacker and her family, having received threats in this regard.

Encouraged by relatives, she finally filed a complaint. As soon as the complaint was received, the UFAM of the National Police in Manacor began a search to clarify the events and arrested the alleged perpetrator. Officers discovered that the accused had an electronic geolocation device for domestic violence with another woman from a town in Mallorca. She had notified the Civil Guard that the man had contacted her, thus violating the restraining order.

Upon learning that the attacker could reside and move around the Levante area of Mallorca, a device was activated to locate and arrest him. Last Wednesday, he was caught by officers from the Citizen Security Brigade of the National Police in Manacor during a security checkpoint in the early hours of the morning, where they arrested him and seized his vehicle.

Once the search was completed, officers brought the detainee before the on-duty investigating court, where he was remanded in custody.
