PalmThe National Police are investigating the death of a woman in Palma. The elderly woman had been dead for a month, and her son had not given any warning and continued to live with his mother's body. The National Police have arrested the man, but a Palma court has released him pending the closure of the police investigation.

Police sources detailed this Friday that the events date back to October 6, when at 2:20 p.m. the police force received a phone call on 091 in which a person alerted them that they had not heard from a neighbor for approximately a month. A Citizen Security patrol from the National Police went to the home and found that the apartment was locked, so a fire brigade was called to open the door.

Just as the main access was being manipulated, the front door opened and a man, the son of the deceased, appeared. He told the officers that his mother had died at the beginning of September and that the woman's lifeless body was inside the bedroom.

The officers carried out an inspection of the house, in which they gathered all the information about what happened and in which they noted the strange circumstances surrounding the death and the unusual behavior of the son.

The circumstances surrounding the woman's death and her discovery led to an exhaustive search by the Homicide Group, which awaited the preliminary autopsy report from the Institute of Forensic Medicine. As the investigation progressed, and based on the evidence and preliminary report confirming the existence of injuries and determining a possible violent etiology for the death, officers arrested the son on October 14 as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against life.

The investigation remains open to clarify all the details of the incident, pending the final autopsy report, which will definitively establish the cause of death.
