MÉS per Palma proclaims David Pujol candidate for mayor for the 2027 municipal elections
Lluís Apesteguia and Miquel Oliver will head the lists to Parliament and the Council
PalmaThe MÉS per Palma Primary Commission proclaimed this Tuesday the candidacy led by David Pujol and Xisca Mir to head the party's list in the 2027 Palma municipal elections. The primary process concluded on Monday, when the deadline for submitting candidacies ended, and Pujol and Mir's was the only one registered.
According to the president of the Primary Commission, Miquel Àngel Contreras, MÉS per Palma "has always been characterized by being a brave option and for putting people and the environment at the center". In this regard, he assured that the party will continue working "to build an alternative to the misgovernment of the PP and Vox", while they "cut rights". "We will continue to bet on a rooted city with strong public services as guarantors of social justice", he added. Contreras congratulated Pujol and Mir for taking on the challenge.
David Pujol explained that the candidacy is born with the will to unite sensibilities and build a solid alternative for the future of the city. "The objective is very clear: to build a left-wing, broad, united and brave candidacy", he stated. Along these lines, he defended the need to strengthen the link between institutions and the street: "We want to unite the struggle of the streets with institutional action".
For her part, Xisca Mir highlighted the shared trajectory with Pujol and the desire to expand the transformative political space in Palma. "We have been collaborating and sharing spaces of militancy and activism for many years. Now we are taking another step to form the broadest possible left-wing space led by MÉS per Palma", she pointed out. Mir insisted that the political context demands "foresight" and the ability to reach agreements. "To recover Palma, now is the time for generosity, unity, and bravery", she said.
Lluís Apesteguia and Miquel Oliver
Regarding the lists for the Parliament and the Council of Mallorca, Lluís Apesteguia and Miquel Oliver will lead them, respectively. The eco-sovereignists have presented a single candidacy for each institution. The candidacy for the Parliament is integrated by Lluís Apesteguia and Maria Ramon, while that for the Council is formed by Miquel Oliver and Marta Català.
The formation has indicated that both candidacies are parity-based and have exceeded the requirement of presenting more than 50 endorsements to participate in the internal candidate election process. The membership will ratify the candidacies in an assembly on June 13, a step with which the party will culminate the process of designating list leaders.
