Convene an antifascist rally to reject the National Nucleus one in Palma
MÁS por Mallorca transferred the danger of this call taking place to the state administration so that later ignorance of the ultra call cannot be alleged
PalmThe Antifascist Coordinator of Mallorca has called a protest this Sunday in front of the Consolat de Mar, at 10:00 AM, in rejection of the concentration planned for the same day in the Feixina park by the neo-Nazi group Núcleo Nacional.
In a statement, the organization explained that the mobilization responds to the “institutional permissiveness towards a neo-Nazi concentration.” According to the Coordinator, there is growing concern about the “normalization of fascism” and “the impunity with which they act and walk through our streets”.
The platform has stated that the protest aims to “protect the memory and dignity of the people” and has warned that it will not tolerate “any step backwards” in the face of such calls. In this regard, the Antifascist Coordinator has affirmed that it takes as a reference the mobilizations recently promoted in other cities such as Valencia, Madrid or Barcelona against acts linked to far-right groups.
The entity has also called for the participation of “all people who feel challenged by the values of antifascism” to demonstrate, as they have stated, “that we are more than them, that we are not willing to give up an inch and that we will stand up to them every time it is necessary”.
MÁS and ARCA have also positioned themselves against
The Association for the Revitalization of Old Centers (ARCA) has also called on the Spanish government's delegation in the Balearic Islands to disavow the rally called by the National Nucleus group in Palma's Feixina Park. The entity considers that this far-right ideology group “goes against universal rights and seeks citizen confrontation”.
In a statement, ARCA has expressed its “indignation” at the fact that this group presents itself as a defender of the Feixina monument, despite the association having reiterated that its defense of the monolith responds exclusively to its “cultural, historical, and architectural values”. According to ARCA, National Nucleus “seeks prominence” and intends “to glorify its destructive ideology”, in addition to even putting “the monument at risk”. The entity has also rejected any “partisan use” of the Feixina and has advocated for the need to preserve “historical truth” and “constitutional values”.
The heritage association has recalled that the redefinition of the monument agreed upon in 2010 was the result of political consensus and that the monolith has “demonstrated architectural, historical, and social values”. In this regard, it has stressed that all its actions have been based on the historical heritage regulations of the Balearic Islands and the State. ARCA has also highlighted the different judicial rulings in favor of maintaining the monument, in addition to ensuring that it “does not contravene democratic memory in any case”. According to the entity, the monument has been adapted to the historical memory law since 2010.
Furthermore, the association has defended the validity of the Balearic democratic memory law and has described its repeal as an ‘mistake’. Finally, it has warned that the defense of democratic memory requires “agreements between parties and civil society” and has called for “blocking extremist ideological and political groups that exploit the divisions of democratic groups”.
MÉS per Mallorca also requested last week from the Spanish government delegation in the Balearic Islands that the concentration of Núcleo Nacional in La Feixina be prohibited, as it considers it will be an "exaltation of fascism, will go against the memory and will ridicule the victims" of the cruiser Baleares. The Sumar MÉS deputy, Vicenç Vidal, expressed himself in these terms in statements to the media offered last week before communicating the call for this protest in the center of Palma to the delegation.
The parliamentarian warned that Nucleo Nacional has arrived in the Balearic Islands, and pointed out that they are a "nucleus of fascists" who have perpetrated vandalistic and violent acts throughout the State and recalled that they are classified as a "dangerous, violent, and Nazi" organization. In this regard, he pointed out that next May 24, the ultra group has organized this concentration in Feixina and warned that it will be an act of hate.
"The Administration must avoid these acts and the Spanish government's delegation is asked not to authorize the concentration and not to give permits so that this outrage to democracy is not committed, out of respect for democratic values and the victims of the ship Baleares", he pointed out. The deputy asserted that the crew of this vessel was responsible for a "massacre" of thousands of people during the dispersal. In addition, he recalled that last March the Feixina was declared a monument contrary to historical memory by the Ministry of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory. Likewise, they have raised a series of questions to the Ministry so that, as long as this monument exists, these acts "will continue to occur". Therefore, they have asked what kind of measures they intend to take to prevent it from happening again and what are the deadlines for removing this monument from public space.
Vidal indicated that the exhibition of this call to the government delegation is intended so that it cannot later claim "ignorance" of the facts. "It is warned that a neo-Nazi group is about to commit acts that the Democratic Memory Law does not allow and it is important to bring it to their attention," he remarked. In this way, they ask that it not be authorized and that the Police "act with the capacity they have" because "they must enforce the law".
