PalmThe solidarity initiative driven by Marches of Mallorca for Palestine has managed to mobilize the island's educational community with the collection of more than 200 backpacks destined for the population of Gaza. The project, called Backpacks for Gaza, is part of an action to support the international flotilla that will depart from the port of Barcelona on April 12 with humanitarian aid.

The proposal has been designed by the USTEC teaching union and has been developed in Mallorca with the involvement of teachers, families, and a wide network of volunteers. In total, more than 50 schools and institutes on the island have participated in this educational and solidarity project, which has made it possible to collect hundreds of backpacks prepared for children and young people.

The backpacks, made with materials provided by families and with a strong pedagogical component, have been collected at a venue ceded by the Montuïri City Council. This Thursday they were transferred to a van that will take them to the port of Barcelona.

The organization highlights the involvement of teachers, professors, families, and volunteers, as well as the mobilization capacity of a network that has made it possible to bring an international solidarity initiative to educational centers. The project, they emphasize, combines raising awareness among young people with concrete action to support the population of Gaza.

With this action, Mallorca joins an international initiative that aims to deliver humanitarian aid to the Strip in a context marked by crisis and difficulties in accessing basic resources.
