PalmThe Raixa public estate hosted the presentation of the Federation of Independent Municipal Entities (FEIM) this Sunday, an event that will bring together the municipalist parties of the Balearic Islands and which was attended by hundreds of people. The gathering brought together representatives and supporters of municipalism, marking the "starting point" of an initiative that aims to "strengthen and coordinate the local and independent political groups of the archipelago," according to a press release from the organization. The creation of FEIM responds to the need to "offer common support" to the municipalist parties and entities of the Balearic Islands, providing them "with a voice and resources at the island and regional levels to more effectively defend municipal interests."

The president of FEIM, Sebastià Aguiló, stated in his address that "more and more citizens of the Balearic Islands are showing weariness with traditional parties and are opting for local and independent entities." Aguiló emphasized that there are more than 44 municipalist parties in the Islands, which "demonstrates the dynamism and diversity of Balearic municipalism."

For his part, the general secretary of FEIM, Alexandro Gaffar, explained the "rapid growth" and "unity among the groups" that have decided to join the federation. "Today, FEIM comprises 13 groups, which already represent 30 percent of all municipalist parties in the Islands, and talks are underway with more groups. The goal is to unite, coordinate efforts, and present ourselves as a solid alternative that puts the needs of municipalities at the forefront," he explained. The objectives are to facilitate mutual support among the associated municipalist groups, promote joint initiatives that defend municipal interests and local autonomy, and promote political proposals and alternatives at the Balearic and island levels from a municipalist perspective. The Federation has announced that in the coming weeks, the member groups will work on a schedule of meetings and on defining common programmatic lines to strengthen dialogue with administrations and citizens. Some of the parties affiliated with FEIM are: Seny i Sentit, Libertad Llucmajor, Asamblea Vecinal Independiente, Partido Vecinal Calvià, Unión por Binissalem, Futur Llubí, Unión de Independientes de Muro, Arenal-Urbanizaciones-Llucmajor, and the Balearic Regional Party.
