PalmThe upcoming festivities in the Balearic Islands won't be all bonfires and traditional activities: rain will be a major factor. The Balearic delegation of the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has announced that the days of Saint Anthony and Saint Sebastian will be marked by widespread rainfall and the activation of yellow weather warnings. This Friday, the sky will alternate between cloudy intervals and some occasional, isolated showers, while maximum temperatures will range between 15 and 17 °C. The wind will be light from the southwest and south. However, the clouds will not let up on Saturday: on Saint Anthony's Day, widespread rain is expected, locally heavy and persistent, prompting yellow weather warnings in Formentera, Ibiza, and Mallorca from 9:00 a.m. to midnight. In Menorca, the same warning will be in effect from 9:00 p.m. on Saturday until 6:00 a.m. on Sunday. Minimum temperatures will rise slightly, ranging between 8 and 14 °C, while maximum temperatures will remain between 12 and 15 °C. On Sunday, cloudy skies will continue with rain, which may be heavy in some areas, although it will be reduced to isolated showers during the afternoon. Maximum temperatures will rise slightly to 13-16 °C, with light winds from the south and southeast.

On Monday, the sky will remain overcast, with rain and showers, locally persistent from midday onwards. Minimum temperatures will drop to between 4 and 10 °C, while maximum temperatures will remain the same. Finally, on Tuesday, Saint Sebastian's Day, the rain will continue and minimum temperatures will rise slightly to between 6 and 11 °C, with maximum temperatures remaining unchanged from the previous day. With this weather forecast, festive activities will need to combine tradition with caution, as locals and visitors get used to enjoying the celebrations under a wetter-than-usual sky.
