A €20,000 fine was levied against RCE Mallorca for favoring the Supporters Mallorca ultras.
The sports commission has indicated that the club gave a significant role to a member of the ultra group
PalmRCD Mallorca will be fined €20,000 for supporting an ultra-right-wing group. This was announced Thursday by the State Commission against Violence, Racism, Xenophobia, and Intolerance in Sport, which has proposed a €20,000 fine for the club for supporting radical and violent fans. According to the report prepared by the National Sports Office (OND) of the National Police, the club gave a prominent role in the supporters' section of the Son Moix stadium to a leading member of the ultra group Supporters Mallorca. RCD Mallorca assigned this supporter responsibility for the lectern located in this section of the stands and for the only authorized PA system, reinforcing his image of leadership among the fans. The club itself identified the supporter as a member of Supporters Mallorca in a letter sent to the OND last September. The State Commission classifies the events as a serious infraction, as stipulated in Law 19/2007 of July 11 against violence, racism, xenophobia, and intolerance in sport. This is the third proposed sanction of this nature for RCE Mallorca since the end of 2023.
Other sanctions in state football
In addition, the body proposed fines for other clubs. Real Racing Club de Santander was fined €5,000 for allowing the use of evacuation routes during a match against Real Sociedad B; Xerez CD was fined €3,001 for the detonation of pyrotechnic devices at the Chapín stadium during a Second Division derby; and Club Atlético Osasuna was fined €5,000 for allowing unauthorized banners at a match against Real Oviedo. A €60,000 fine and a three-year stadium ban were also proposed for a Real Betis Balompié fan linked to an ultra group. United Family, which caused an avalanche and minor injuries to a worker during the match against Real Oviedo.
Declaration of high-risk parties
The State Commission has declared several matches high-risk: Real Madrid CF - Benfica (Champions League, February 25); Real Club Celta de Vigo - PAOK Thessaloniki (Europa League, February 26); Real Betis Balompié - Sevilla FC (La Liga, March 1). This declaration entails additional security measures, a limit on same-day ticket sales, and increased monitoring of away fans. The State Commission, comprised of representatives from the Ministry of the Interior, the National Sports Council (CSD), the National Police, the Civil Guard, the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), La Liga, the Spanish Basketball League (ACB), and the State Attorney General's Office, is tasked with formulating proactive policies to combat violence, racism, and intolerance in sport.
