112 workers rally to demand better working conditions
According to the CGT, since the start of the strike, the minimum service level of 100% has not been met on all shifts.

PalmAccording to the CGT, around thirty people gathered this Wednesday in front of the Parliament and the Ministry of the Presidency and Public Administration to demand improved working conditions for the Balearic Islands' 112 workers, who have been on an indefinite strike for seven days. According to the union, since last Thursday, the minimum service requirement of 100% has not been met on all shifts, a sign, they said, of the lack of staff on 112.
Although workers cannot exercise the right to strike, the union explained that many shifts had 20% fewer staff to handle calls. "The situation worsened on shifts such as Thursday the 3rd, morning and afternoon, or Sunday the 6th in the morning, when we were managing emergencies with two fewer operators in the Balearic Islands," they stated.
In this regard, they warned that there have been shifts "particularly detrimental to the community and the quality of service" in which three emergency operators were missing. On Saturday, for example, there were only five to serve the entire Balearic Islands—not including necessary and mandatory breaks—and on Monday only two.
Similarly, the CGT Baleares (Union of Workers' Workers) has criticized the Government's intention to count some positions that do not handle emergency calls to argue that the service is guaranteed. However, the union branch warned that handling all calls "is not guaranteed."
Furthermore, they considered the Government's latest proposal before starting the strike to be "totally detrimental, if not insulting," as it seeks to eliminate vacation days and leave and increase the number of shifts during the summer. At the moment, no meeting with the Executive is planned.
