PalmThe appointment portals of the Spanish Government Delegation in the Balearic Islands will be accessible in Catalan at the end of this month. This was communicated by the Ministry of Territorial Policy following a request from a citizen of Mallorca, a member of the Platform for the Language, who informed the state government about the lack of Catalan translations of some sections of the Ministry's website and the section for requesting an appointment through the electronic site of the Delegation of the Islands.

In the letter, published by the citizen himself, who requested it through social media at the Ministry of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory, they explain that they are "fully aware of the importance of making the website's content accessible in all official languages to guarantee citizens' linguistic rights." They also stated that the Undersecretariat is working on translating the Ministry's website content into the rest of the official languages throughout Spain.

In this regard, they have stated that the Spanish government's intention is for the pages to be fully operational in Catalan and the rest of the co-official languages of the State by the end of October. The citizen himself has also published the response from the Institute of Balearic Studies, after it joined the General Subdirectorate of the Technical Office of the National Police to convey the complaint of this Mallorcan.

For its part, the National Police acknowledged that the appointment page for renewing ID cards or passports was not in Catalan or any of the other national languages. Therefore, the police force has expressed its commitment to review and facilitate access in Catalan, Basque, and Galician.
