PalmaThe Association of Consumers and Users of the Balearic Islands (Consubal) has publicly denounced that the Balearic Health Service (IBSalut) takes "ever longer" to offer an appointment with certain specialists.

Among other examples, the association has stated in a press release that the wait to get an appointment with a pulmonologist can reach ten months. According to affected individuals who have contacted Consubal, the wait to get appointments is increasing, as is the concern of those affected.

In this regard, the president of the association, Alfonso Rodríguez, has warned that there are elderly people who wait more than three months for an appointment with a urologist or almost a year for traumatology. Furthermore, he pointed out that appointments with the family doctor have a waiting time of between 12 and 14 days, which leads many people to go to the emergency room.

Consubal has demanded solutions from IBSalut and the Ministry of Health for the "deterioration" in care, which, they lament, "every day generates more insecurity and anxiety among users". "Let's not forget they are sick people who need their medical consultations," emphasized Rodríguez, who has called on the Ministry of Health to provide the necessary means to alleviate this problem that affects users, especially the elderly or those with few resources.
