MarratxíAena's announcement to expand the aircraft parking platform at Son Bonet aerodrome has prompted an immediate response from MÉS per Marratxí and the PSOE of Marratxí, who reject any increase in airport activity and accuse the company of making decisions behind the municipality's back.

The ecosocialists consider that this expansion will allow the arrival of more and larger planes, which will mean more pressure on an infrastructure located very close to residential areas. Therefore, they demand that pending commitments with Marratxí be fulfilled before any new action.

Among these demands, MÉS calls for the halting of the photovoltaic park planned within the airport complex and the cession of use of various social and sports facilities at Son Bonet, such as the sports courts and the old terminal, which for years had a community use. The spokesperson for the party, Aina Amengual, argues that “it is not acceptable for Aena to expand facilities without listening to the citizens” and insists that “befores growing, Marratxí must be satisfied”.

The PSOE of Marratxí also strongly rejects any expansion and states that increasing activity at Son Bonet is incompatible with the urban reality of the municipality. The socialists warn of the acoustic impact and the disturbances this would generate for residents.

The socialist spokesperson, Miquel Cabot, considers that “any increase in activity is simply unassumable” and calls for Aena to stop prioritizing commercial interests over the well-being of the neighbors.

Furthermore, the PSOE advocates for the management of Son Bonet to be transferred to the autonomous community, a proposal that, as they explain, would allow the aerodrome's future to be better adapted to the real needs of Marratxí. They have also criticized the lack of a clear stance from the City Council and the mayor, Jaume Llompart, whom they accuse of not having forcefully defended the municipality's interests.
