The owners of the house where a deadly collapse occurred in Manacor are under investigation.
Police investigations have revealed that the owners carried out an illegal renovation a year ago.
PalmThe National Police are investigating the owners of the house that collapsed and killed an 18-year-old in Manacor last January. According to police sources, they are being investigated as suspected perpetrators of manslaughter as a result of the fatal collapse. This investigation follows the discovery that illegal construction work was carried out on the property a year ago and that the debris was stored on the terrace, which could have been one of the reasons the roof collapsed.
According to sources close to the search, the suspects are the landlords of the apartment to the victim's family. These two individuals have been questioned as part of the investigation, as, after conducting the necessary searches, agents from the Judicial Police and the Scientific Police of the Manacor Police Station, in coordination with the City Council and the Fire Department, discovered that the construction work had been carried out without a permit approximately a year prior. They also learned that the resulting debris from the construction had been stored on the terrace of the property and had not been removed. National Police officers have already reported all the steps taken to the judicial authorities. It should be recalled that an 18-year-old man died in the incident after the ceiling of the room where he was sleeping collapsed. His 12-year-old brother was injured. The incident involved the collapse of the floor slab in a room of a two-story building. The upper floor slab, which corresponded to a flat roof, collapsed onto the floor below and subsequently affected another room in the house.
