The Palma-Llucmajor train will arrive at the airport in just over ten minutes
Furthermore it will connect a dozen city neighborhoods and is scheduled to be ready in 2032
PalmThe new train between Palma and Llucmajor will begin construction in 2028 and, if the planned deadlines are met, will become operational in 2032. The infrastructure will connect a dozen neighborhoods in the two municipalities and will allow travel to Palma airport in just over ten minutes.
The Government of the Balearic Islands has definitively approved the informative study of the new railway line, which closes the planning phase and opens the door to the awarding of the executive projects.
The Minister of Housing, Territory and Mobility, José Luis Mateo, presented this Wednesday the definitive route of the Palma-Llucmajor train, which will cover nearly 30 kilometers, about ten of which will be underground. The entire journey is expected to take half an hour.
The line will pass through strategic points in the south of Mallorca, such as Palma airport, Son Llatzer University Hospital, the industrial estates of Son Oms and Can Noguera, as well as the future exhibition center. In total, 13 new stations are planned —ten in Palma and three in Llucmajor— which will be added to the current train and metro network.
According to the minister, “we are talking about an infrastructure that will significantly improve connectivity and reduce travel times,” as part of an effort to strengthen metropolitan mobility between Palma and the south of the island.
