The residents of Pere Garau launch the first 'object library' of Palma
The initiative will allow neighbors to take objects for occasional use for free and will begin loans in a maximum of three weeks
PalmaThe Pere Garau neighborhood now has the first object library in Palma, a community initiative that functions as a "library of things" and will allow neighbors to borrow objects for occasional use. The project is promoted by Pere Garau Saludable, LUP, Repair Cafe Palma, and Flipau amb Pere Garau, with the goal of fostering responsible consumption, the circular economy, and savings.
The Object Library will offer DIY tools, utensils for household repairs, and other items that are usually bought even though they are only used a few times. In a first phase, the promoting entities have selected about twenty objects and are now calling on neighbors, entities, and businesses in the neighborhood to donate others that are in good condition. The lending system, which will be free, will begin within a maximum period of three weeks.
In addition to facilitating the lending of objects, the Object Library plans to organize activities related to repair, recycling, knowledge exchange, and sustainability.
