PalmThe residents of Son Sardina met this Wednesday at the community center to discuss their reasons for opposing the importation of manure from Ibiza. They held a neighborhood meeting to share the various arguments justifying their rejection of this proposal.

Among the arguments put forward by the residents, they point out that the transport of 90,000 tons of waste from Ibiza to Mallorca will result in increased air pollution, worse odors, more slag, and more ash, which "will affect the health and environment of the area surrounding Son Reus." The residents also note that this will mean an additional 40 trucks will be traveling daily on the Sóller road, which "will increase traffic and the risk of fires," they say. They also point out that it will cause more "traffic chaos," as it will coincide with the construction work on the Son Castelló roundabout. The residents who participated in the meeting stated that rejecting this waste is not an act against Ibiza, but rather a requirement to comply with European regulations, which mandate the reduction and separation of waste at the source, as well as its recycling. Therefore, they have urged the Consell d'Eivissa (Island Council of Ibiza) to implement the Waste Management Plan and manage its own waste.
