PalmThe educational community of the San Francisco de Asís nursery school in Es Pil·larí (Palma) gathered this Tuesday afternoon to condemn the gender-based violence suffered by one of its employees, a 35-year-old woman stabbed on Sunday by her ex-partner as she left a party at an estate in Costi. The man had a restraining order in place.

The mobilization, convened by the educational center itselfThe event brought together teachers, families, neighbors, and members of the educational community, as well as institutional representatives. Among those in attendance were the Second Vice President of the Government, Antònia Maria Estarellas; the director of IBDona, Catalina Maria Salom; and members of the municipal corporations of Costitx and Alaró. The school's headteacher, Xavier Fernández, expressed his gratitude for the community's response at what he described as a "humble and simple" event, reflecting the character of the educational community. He affirmed that the gathering served both to "keep alive the hope for a speedy recovery" for the staff member—who has been part of the faculty for nine years—and to condemn what they consider unacceptable actions.

Fernández lamented that incidents like this continue to occur despite the efforts of schools to transmit values of equality. "As educators, we must ask ourselves what is happening that, despite education in equality, acts like those of this Sunday continue to occur," he said. The headmaster also denounced that "something has failed in the system," which should have protected the victim after the complaints were filed. He explained that the school had known since September that the teacher had filed serious complaints and was afraid, although she had always expressed that she "felt safe" at school. During the event, the school's academic director, Catiana Arrom, read a statement condemning the incident and expressing support for the victim. The Second Vice President of the Government also spoke, reaffirming the institutional commitment to the fight against gender violence.
