The XIX Organic Farming Day of Porreres transforms into a great night fair with nearly 50 exhibitors

July 11, about fifty exhibitors will be spread throughout the streets and squares of the town center

PorreresThe XIX Organic Farming Day will turn the center of Porreres on July 11th into a large night fair to discover, taste, and enjoy the organic production of the Balearic Islands. The event is organized by the Association of Agroecological Production of Mallorca (APAEMA) and the City Council of Porreres.

This morning, the mayor of Porreres, Maria Agnès Sampol, and the president of APAEMA, Miquel Coll, were photographed with the poster of this edition to invite citizens to a celebration that, year after year, has broad popular participation and the support of the council.

According to the mayor, "this is a consolidated fair in Porreres. Although the initiative was born from APAEMA, we already feel it is ours. Since the first year, the people of Porreres have participated and the City Council has been very involved in the organization. It is a fair that people expect and ask for," stated the mayor.

For his part, Miquel Coll explained that the change in the usual dates of the celebration has also been an opportunity to explore new formats. "We are holding the fair in the summer because certain circumstances prevented us from doing it in the spring, as was customary, but it also responds to the desire to try a different proposal that we hope will work well." The president of APAEMA also wanted to highlight the complicity they have always found in the Porreres City Council. "Their support has always been a hundred horsepower; without them it would be very difficult to do many of the things we do," he said.

Proposal

Thus, on the evening of July 11th, about fifty exhibitors will be spread, between 7:00 PM and 12:00 AM, through the streets and squares of the town center, where visitors will find a wide range of products, gastronomic tastings or wines, but also family activities, workshops, popular culture, and live music. Beyond the market, the Diada will showcase the diversity of the agroecological ecosystem of the Balearic Islands. Among the exhibitors will be social and environmental entities, responsible consumption initiatives, and educational spaces linked to land stewardship, biodiversity, and healthy eating. This plurality makes the Diada a representative showcase of the agroecological sector of the Islands and its role in building a food model that is more respectful of the environment and rooted in the territory.

One of the highlights of the celebration will be the presentation of the Organic Product of the Year 2026 award, for which eight proposals of Balearic Island products are competing. The candidacies include vegetable preserves and spreads, cookies, wine, olive oil, fig coffee, and other processed products that exemplify the diversity, quality, and innovation capacity of the Balearic organic sector. The award aims to recognize products that stand out for their agri-food value, their rootedness in the territory, and their commitment to organic production.
