PalmaThe residents of Sant Jordi reported this Wednesday the destruction of several heritage elements in the area for the construction of a new development of more than a hundred homes. According to what they explained, an excavator demolished two talayots, one of which would correspond to a shepherd's hut.

The residents claim that the work has affected other elements of the surroundings and warn that a windmill is also scheduled to be torn down. The intervention is located in the area of the Binissalom path, in Sant Jordi, where the new apartment development is planned.

According to their account, this very Wednesday, when asking for explanations from the technician who was in the area, he reportedly indicated that he had the corresponding permits from Cort: "We are here by order of the Palma City Council".

The situation has generated "indignation and surprise" among the neighbors, who question how heritage elements of Sant Jordi could have disappeared during the works to make way for the new development.
