They report that Cort discredits the neighborhood dinner of the Canamunt festivals two days before the event
Sources of the Palma City Council assure that at no time the "Sopar a la Llesca" has been "disauthorized", because the permit to occupy the Plaça de Cort had not yet been decreed.
PalmaThe Brunzit Neighbors Association, the Canamunt Neighbors Association, and the popular athenaeums La Fonera and l'Elèctrica have reported that, with only two days left until the celebration of the Sopar a la Llesca, included in the Canamunt Festivities 2026 program, they have been informed by telephone that their request to occupy Plaça de Cort will not be authorized.
According to the entities, the communication was made without any official notification or motivated resolution justifying the denial. They assure that the permit was processed in May, within the established deadline, and that the activity had the same characteristics as other similar events authorized this same summer.
The organizers state that the celebration did not affect vehicle traffic and that the removal of terraces was planned for reasons of public interest, as has been done on other occasions. They also note that, this Monday, the requested tables and chairs were already installed in the Plaça de Cort.
Given this situation, the entities have registered an instance to request explanations and are awaiting a municipal response. For the moment, they assure that they cannot guarantee that the Sopar a la Llesca can be held at the planned location, although they maintain the call for neighbors to meet on Wednesday. "We will find a way to see each other," they affirm in the statement.

For their part, sources from the Palma City Council assure that at no time has the Sopar a la Llesca been "disauthorized", as they affirm that the permit to occupy the Plaça de Cort had not yet been decreed. As they explain, when the entities asked for information, they were offered two alternative locations to carry out the activity: Plaça del Quadrado and Plaça de Llorenç Bisbal.
The Consistory defends that these spaces have been chosen because they consider that they meet better conditions to host the dinner. When asked about the lack of advance notice in the communication, taking into account that the event is planned for this Wednesday and the request was registered in May, the same municipal sources have not wished to give further explanations.
