PalmaSom Sindicalistes has filed a formal complaint with the Palma City Council due to the persistence of serious deficiencies in the air conditioning systems of five municipal swimming pools, which have been out of order for some time, two years in one case, a situation that affects working conditions. The formal complaint filed by the union with the IME demands the immediate repair of the faulty air conditioning systems and the correction of all deficiencies that prevent maintaining an adequate temperature in the different affected municipal premises.

The air conditioning breakdowns "directly affect the working conditions of reception staff, monitors, cleaning staff, and maintenance staff, all integrated into privatized services," denounced Som Sindicalistes in a statement.

The affected facilities are the Marga Crespí-Son Ferriol, Rudy Fernández-Gènova, Son Roca, and Toni Servera-Arenal swimming pools, which have had air conditioning system breakdowns for months and, in the case of Toni Servera, for over two years, without any definitive solution being implemented.

Added to this are structural deficiencies such as deteriorated access doors or doors that do not close correctly, which significantly aggravates the loss of thermal control in the workplaces.

The deficiencies are not limited to the reception areas, but extend to other spaces within the facilities, including the changing rooms, thus also affecting users. Also in the areas where monitors, cleaning staff, and maintenance staff carry out their activities, which indicates a generalized deterioration of the environmental conditions in the centers.

This situation constitutes a prolonged breach of the minimum thermal comfort conditions required in work and public use environments, especially during periods of high temperatures, while also evidencing a lack of continuous maintenance by the responsible administration.

The affected personnel belong to companies awarded privatized services, "a circumstance that in no case exempts the IME from its obligation to guarantee safe, dignified, and adequate working conditions in all municipal facilities," denounces the trade union organization.

Therefore, they demand the immediate repair of the air conditioning systems and request detailed information on the planned actions, execution deadlines, and the urgent adoption of effective provisional measures while the incidents persist.

The union denounces that the IME has "normalized" the breakdowns and warns that, if immediate measures are not adopted, it will promote "the necessary union, administrative, and public actions until the effective resolution of the problem".
