Police are investigating the closure of Palma airport due to a drone flying in the area.

Normality has now returned, but numerous delays have accumulated.

PalmPalma Airport is operating normally this Monday after a drone was spotted this Sunday, forcing it to halt operations for just over half an hour. After learning of the news, the National Police began an investigation to determine the cause of the incident and find the culprits.

The incident occurred this Sunday, when the sighting of a drone forced a temporary halt to operations at Son Sant Joan.

Aena sources indicated that arrival operations were halted for at least 35 minutes and that, after carrying out checks and security measures, the airport is now operating normally. The incident forced certain aircraft to wait or divert to other destinations.

Police investigation

The National Police, upon learning of the incident, deployed its own drone to try to locate him, without success. Police sources have indicated that an investigation has been opened to clarify how the events occurred. Officers, they noted, will try to determine where the unidentified drone accessed the scene and who was operating it.
