Two of those arrested for kidnapping, beating, and throwing a man out of a moving van in Palma are in prison

PalmaA Palma court has ordered the imprisonment of two of the three men arrested this week for their alleged participation in the kidnapping, assault, and threatening of a man, who was allegedly tied up, beaten, and thrown from a moving van. The third detainee has been released.

The three men had allegedly been hired by the owner of a property with the aim of evicting its usual resident or resolving some supposed economic differences. The victim, however, was not the person they were looking for, but a friend who was visiting Mallorca.

The events date back to last Tuesday, when the 091 received a report that a man had been found tied up and with signs of violence on the Aranjassa road. Two National Police patrols went to the scene and took a statement from the victim. The man explained to the officers that he had traveled to Mallorca to visit a friend who lived in Palma. At a certain point, however, he was left alone in the house because the person who lived there had to go out.

It was then that, allegedly, three men entered the property. According to the victim's account, they tied him up, beat him, and put him inside a van. After traveling several kilometers, the assailants allegedly threw him out of the vehicle while it was still in motion.

During the assault, the alleged perpetrators also reportedly threatened the victim that they would do the same to his friend, who was the person who usually lived on the property.

A worker at the property, among those arrested

Shortly after the events, the resident of the home appeared at the scene and the officers obtained a description of the alleged assailants. Based on the information provided, the investigators determined that one of the men could be a worker from the same property.

The officers traveled to the address and located the van allegedly used in the events and one of the men who had participated in the assault. He was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of the crimes of illegal detention, injuries, and threats. Following the first arrest, the National Police Robbery Group took over the investigation and began various efforts to determine what had happened and to identify the rest of the participants.

The owner of the property allegedly hired the assailants

The investigations allowed the agents to determine that the owner of the property could have hired two more people, in addition to his worker, to try to evict the resident of the dwelling or to settle some alleged economic differences.

According to the police hypothesis, the three assailants could have thought that at the moment of entering one of the rooms of the property they would find the usual inhabitant there. In reality, however, only his friend was there, who would have ended up becoming the victim of the assault. The investigators consider that the assault on the visitor could have served as a warning and threat directed against the person whom the alleged perpetrators were initially looking for.

After identifying the other two suspects, the agents of the Robbery Group launched a search operation that allowed them to also arrest them as alleged perpetrators of the crimes of illegal detention, injuries, and threats. This Friday, a court in Palma has ordered the imprisonment of two of the three arrested, while the third has been released.
