PalmWater reserves in the Balearic Islands rose to 49% in December, an improvement that placed the Manacor-Felanitx water supply unit back within normal limits. The Balearic Government's Ministry of the Sea and Water Cycle reported that December ended with a further increase in water reserves in the Balearic Islands, reaching 49%, one percentage point higher than in November. Despite this improvement, the current level remains three percentage points below that recorded in the same month of 2014, when reserves reached 52%. By island, Mallorca increased from 48% to 49%; Menorca, from 44% to 46%; and Ibiza, from 47% to 48%, figures that consolidate a positive trend at the end of the year.

Regarding the demand units (DU), eight show increases: Menorca, Artà, Manacor-Felanitx, Migjorn, Palma-Alcúdia, Tramuntana Sud, Ibiza, and Formentera. The most significant increases are recorded in Manacor-Felanitx, which is consolidating its normal situation, and in Tramuntana Sud, which shows a notable improvement compared to November.

Currently, 23% of the territory—Formentera, Migjorn, and Manacor-Felanitx—is in a normal situation; 60.8%—Menorca, Palma-Alcudia, Tramuntana Nord, Tramuntana Sud, and Ibiza—is on pre-alert; and 16.2%—El Pla i Artà—remains on alert. The overall index for the Hydrographic Demarcation stands at 0.421, a lower value than that recorded a year ago (0.460) and two years ago (0.437), reflecting a still contained situation, although with a favorable short-term trend. According to data from the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), December was a wet month across the Balearic Islands, with an average rainfall of 88.9 l/m² compared to the usual 71.1 l/m². By island, Mallorca recorded 83.3 l/m²; Menorca, 95.9 l/m²; Ibiza, 78.5 l/m²; and Formentera, 53.8 l/m², all above the normal values for the period. The year-on-year precipitation percentage stands at 102% across the Balearic Islands. By island, it has been 96% in Mallorca, 110% in Menorca, and 137% in the Pitiusas Islands. Regarding temperature, December was a very warm month in the Balearic Islands, with an average temperature of 12.4 °C and an anomaly of +1.1 °C compared to usual values. Given the current situation and the time of year, forecasts indicate that water reserves will continue to increase in the Balearic Islands during January, with no significant changes expected in the short term, although the improvement in some demand units could be consolidated.
