A waterspout devastates the Son Sardina estate: "As if they had dropped a bomb"
The phenomenon has destroyed an agricultural warehouse, has killed several animals and has left the farm without water or power
PalmaA tornado caused severe damage this Wednesday at the Son Sardina estate, located on the Valldemossa road, during the episode of heavy rain and strong wind, which left one person dead and numerous incidents throughout the Balearic Islands. The phenomenon occurred around 2:30 p.m. and completely destroyed an agricultural building, in addition to causing significant material damage and the death of several animals on the estate.

According to the farm's farmer, Toni Feliu, several sows and three donkeys have died. The whirlwind has destroyed a shed where tractor equipment and agricultural machinery were kept, while a second building, where the animals were, has also been affected. "It's a disaster, as if a bomb had been dropped," explains Feliu.
The effects of the storm are also visible throughout the farm's surroundings. "There is asbestos everywhere, split trees, almond trees on the ground, uprooted plum trees...", recounts the farmer. Furthermore, the farm is now left without water and without electricity after the phenomenon "knocked everything down". "If it were a hotel it would be a very big deal, but since it is an agricultural estate...", laments Feliu.
A woman dies during the storm
The episode of instability that shook the Islands this Wednesday has left numerous incidents in the Balearics. The most notable is the death of a 63-year-old woman, who allegedly slipped while walking down the street and drowned due to the heavy rain in Felanitx. The events took place around 3 p.m. on Bellpuig street.
Emergency services received several calls alerting that a woman had been found lying on the ground in cardiorespiratory arrest. Despite efforts to resuscitate her, nothing could be done to save her life. The victim was on her way to get her car, which she had parked on the public road, to go to work.
The Civil Guard has opened an investigation to clarify the circumstances of the event.
The storm has left more than 173 incidents in the Islands, mainly due to flooding and fallen trees. The 112 service has recorded 149 in Mallorca (59 in Palma, 16 in Esporles, and 12 in Manacor), seven in Menorca, and two in Ibiza.

- 12 basic service interruptions.

- 11 obstacles or liquids on the road.
