A waterspout devastates the Son Sardina estate: "As if they had dropped a bomb"
The phenomenon has destroyed an agricultural warehouse, has killed several animals and has left the farm without water or power
PalmaA waterspout caused severe damage this Wednesday at the Son Sardina estate, located on the Valldemossa road, during the episode of instability that brought downpours and strong winds to Mallorca. The phenomenon occurred around 2:30 PM and completely destroyed an agricultural warehouse, in addition to causing significant material damage and affecting the animals on the estate.
As explained by the farm's farmer, Toni Feliu, there have been dead animals, including sows and three donkeys. The tornado destroyed a shed where tractor material and agricultural machinery were kept, while a second building, where the animals were, was also affected. "It's a disaster, as if they had dropped a bomb," explains Feliu.
The effects of the storm are also visible throughout the farm's surroundings. "There is asbestos everywhere, split trees, almond trees on the ground, uprooted plum trees...", the farmer recounts. Furthermore, the farm has now been left without water and without electricity after the phenomenon "knocked everything down". "If it were a hotel it would be a very big thing, but since it is an agricultural farm...", laments Feliu.
