Worker injured after falling from a sixth floor while working in Palma

The man, around 44 years old, has been transferred to Son Espases and Ibassal has opened an investigation to clarify the causes of the incident

PalmaA worker of about 44 years of age was injured this Monday after falling from the sixth floor of a building in Palma while working. The incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. at number 8 on Metge Josep Darder street.

The circumstances of the fall are not yet clear. According to police sources, the man was carrying out work in the building when, for reasons still under investigation, he fell from a sixth floor.

The SAMU 061 health services attended to the worker at the scene and later transferred him to Son Espases University Hospital. The National Police has taken charge of the investigation into the incident, which initially points to a possible work accident. The Palma Local Police regulated traffic in the area to facilitate the intervention of the Emergency services.

Ibassal Investigation

The Balearic Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (Ibassal) has also opened an investigation to determine the circumstances of the accident and clarify what caused the fall.

The agency is awaiting the worker's medical progress. The Minister of Labour, Public Function and Social Dialogue, Catalina Cabrer, has assured through social networks that they are closely monitoring the man's evolution and that the corresponding investigation has already begun to clarify the causes of the incident. The minister also conveyed her support to the worker and his family.
