PalmaNetflix will premiere on May 29th Rafa, a documentary series dedicated to the personal and sporting career of Rafael Nadal. The platform published the trailer for the production this Tuesday, a two-and-a-half-minute preview that covers some of the most defining moments of the Manacorí's career and focuses on his ability to overcome injuries.

The docuseries, directed by American filmmaker Zach Heinzerling and produced by Skydance Sports, will consist of four episodes and will combine unreleased images with testimonies from people close to the tennis player. According to Netflix in a statement, the production offers "an intimate and profoundly human portrait of one of the greatest legends in sport".

The trailer shows Nadal facing his return to the courts in January 2024 after a year without competing due to injury. He did so as world number 652, in what would be his last season before definitively retiring from the ATP circuit at 38 years old.

The series also reviews the beginnings of the tennis player in Mallorca, from when he started playing at just three years old, and includes access to his family and professional environment during different stages of his career. Among the figures who participate are Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, and John McEnroe.

“I have always been motivated by the desire to keep fighting”, Nadal states in one of the documentary's segments. The production not only reviews his sporting achievements —with 22 Grand Slam titles and one of the most outstanding careers in tennis history—, but also the physical and emotional toll that has marked a large part of his career.
